About Us

We are conveniently situated near Heian Jingu, one of the most famous shrines in Japan. It was built in 1895 to commemorate the 1100th anniversary of the city of Kyoto and to deify emperor Kammu.

Our traditional Japanese home cum showroom was built at the very beginning of the Showa era in 1930. It is a constant source of inspiration for our growing collection of art, which features many pieces from the Taisho and early Showa eras.

From rather humble beginnings in 1994 our appreciation of the Japanese aesthetic has been steadily refined. The early years were spent traipsing through the markets and it wasn’t until sufficient base knowledge had been gained that antique stores began to be frequented with any regularity. The years of enthusiasm and perseverance have led us to the fortunate position of having direct access to the majority of new pieces which surface in Kyoto and the surrounding regions, as well as many of the better quality items from around the country.

In the coming years we hope to bring more and more fine works of art to your attention. We aim to make every visit to our store, be it online or in person, a memorable experience.
