DESCRIPTION : A large standing beauty from the Taisho period, circa 1915-1920. The beauty is a traditional geisha administering the final highlights to her hair using candle wax applied with a hair pin. Likely an unusual technique even in its day. A rare and gorgeous work encapsulating the romanticism of Japan's Taisho period.
TECHNIQUE : Painted on silk with ink, pigment and gofun.
CONDITION : The painting is in original condition. There are scratches present in the lower field and a loss to the right of the signature. The painting is currently mounted on a board and is in need of framing.
